And if you want to recreate the attack on Tony Stark’s Malibu mansion yourself, check out this nifty LEGO set that includes everything from figurines of the people in the house (Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, even the Mark 42 armor suit), as well as a section of the house, and the Mandarin’s helicopter. In the continuity of Earth-3490, Tony Stark was born a woman (Natasha Stark) rather than a man; Stark's superhero alter-ego in this universe is Iron Woman. The Civil War between superheroes in Earth-3490 was averted due to the fact that Stark and Steve Rogers (Captain America) are romantically involved, and have since married. Tom Holland says the emotional death scene of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame was improvised. It's a moment Marvel Cinematic Universe fans had been anticipating, but it was still a shock to see. Of those scenes, the most significant one involves the Avengers honoring Tony Stark/Iron Man by taking a knee. It appears the scene was going to take place right after Tony’s death.

It has been quite a ride for Robert Downey Jr. In 2008, his character, Tony Stark, constructed the first Iron Man suit in a cave from a box of scraps. From there, he would go toe-to-toe with the likes of Obadiah Stane, Whiplash, the Mandarin — or so we thought — and Aldrich Killian.

And while we could go on about Stark’s witty lines, his romantic relationship with Pepper Potts, his quarrels with Captain America, and that fistfight with Thanos, we cannot say enough about his luxurious taste for riding in style. Here are the cars of Tony Stark from Iron Man 1 to the here and now.

Iron Man 1

His garage included a long line of luxury and classic cars, including the 1932 Ford Flathead Roadster, the Tesla Roadster, Saleen S7, and Shelby Cobra. However, the first film connected Stark to the 2008 Audi R8 all the more, as audiences identified it as the car Iron Man drives. In the movie, you first catch the German sports car in Stark’s garage as he works on his Roadster. He drives the Audi R8 to a charity event and the airport to meet Rhodey and fly to Afghanistan. The studio scrapped a later scene involving Rhodey and a stunt with the R8 during the final fight between Iron Man and Obadiah.

Iron Man 2

In the sequel, we see the return of the Ford Flathead, as well as a new guest star — the Audi R8 Spyder. We catch glimpses of the parked car in Stark’s garage, along with a new lineup of speedsters. When you have the money that Tony Stark has, you have to change the scenery up every now and then. The R8 Spyder convertible features a 5.2 FSI V10 engine that cranks out 525 horsepower.

Iron Man 3

The most successful standalone Iron Man movie at the box office is Iron Man 3, raking in $1 billion worldwide. Tony debuts his new Audi R8 e-tron along with a short sequence with a Bugatti Veyron SS. Sadly, these cars get destroyed when Tony invites the Mandarin to his front doorstep, resulting in a helicopter assault that obliterates his Malibu Mansion.

The Avengers

While the whole world was waiting eagerly for this film, many of us anticipated what Tony Stark would drive next. After the earth experienced a near life-altering alien invasion, Stark still found time to drive around in the Acura NSX concept car. At least he waited until he, Cap, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk saved the day. We wouldn’t want that beautiful car getting destroyed. We catch the 270-horsepower, 3.0-liter V6 transporting Stark and Banner away from the scene where Thor takes Loki back to Asgard.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron

This film was a bit too busy on Stark’s own controversial creation — Ultron — to focus on any of his car collection. However, we did get a peek at his brand new, redesigned Audi R8.

Captain America: Civil War

2016 brought further division within the Avengers in regards to the Sokovia Accords. However, Stark continued to be Stark, driving another Audi R8 in a scene.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

When you reboot a superhero for the second time in five years, you best bring Mr. Stark on board to give the film some additional pizazz. In the film, Stark shows in up in a new Audi A8. For the premier, Spidey rode on a camouflaged A8 and Downey Jr. and John Favreau arrived in a R8 Spyder.

As we all get ready for the three-hour epic conclusion tonight or tomorrow, we’re excited to see what Stark drives this time around. Downey Jr. recently revealed the new Audi e-tron GT Concept car and mentioned that he drives it in the film. So keep an eye out for it.

WARNING: If you couldn’t tell by the headline, this post contains huge, massive, potentially life ruining spoilers for Avengers Endgame. Don’t keep reading unless you want to know how Tony Stark’s character arc wraps up and the secrets of cheeseburgers in the MCU.

One of the many things that sets MCU films apart from so many other superhero offerings is their fanatical attention to detail. Over the course of 11 years, there are call backs to brief moments and lines of dialogue that intertwine through all 22 films. That can be frustrating for causal fans, but utterly rewarding for those who have watched, dissected and loved the entirety of the MCU.

One of the most subtle and lesser known of those details is how and why cheeseburgers are so important to Tony Stark.

It all starts with the key a scene in the first Iron Man film, which came out in 2008. Tony, having finally escaped his captors, is now safely in a limo with Pepper and Happy. There are two things he wants, he says. A good, old fashioned American cheeseburger, and, after a pause for comic affect, a press conference.

In the next scene, Tony pulls a Burger King cheeseburger out of his pocket and is seen eating it as the press conference starts. In the film, it adds a lot of humanity and little levity to two key, emotional scenes. Tony Stark’s appreciation of fast food also becomes a little character tic that’s fun to play with.

But, there’s a surprisingly moving backstory to the reason cheeseburgers are associated with Tony Stark, and it has to with Robert Downey Jr.’s troubled history of drug addiction.

According to a 2008 interview aggregated from The NY Daily News, Downey Jr. says Burger King’s cheeseburgers helped push him to get clean and get started on the path of recovery.

“I have to thank Burger King,” he said. “It was such a disgusting burger I ordered. I had that, and this big soda, and I thought something really bad was going to happen.” Downey Jr.

The article goes on to say that Downey Jr., who had previously served jail time for drug charges, then threw all the “dope” he had in his car into the ocean and committed to rehab. The cheeseburgers then, aren’t just a crass product placement, but a nod to a pivotal moment in the actors life that set him on the path to recovery, much like Tony Stark himself.

Of course, because this is Marvel, things don’t just get mentioned once and then dropped. In one of the closing scenes of Endgame, Tony’s daughter Morgan and Happy are shown sitting on a bench after his funeral. Happy, with his arm around Morgan, asks her if she’s hungry. She replies that she is and would like to eat a cheeseburger.

“Your dad liked cheeseburgers too,” Happy replies, smiling, “I’ll get you all the cheeseburgers you want.”

The scene works on multiple levels. It’s a touching call back to the first Iron Man film and shows how Happy will now help take care of Tony’s daughter, but it’s also a nod to how far actor Robert Downey Jr. has come as well. Before the Iron Man films, his personal and professional life was in shambles, and a cheeseburger helped turn all of that around.
